The Country Snapshot Reports provide a clear and accessible overview of four key East African markets—Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. These summaries highlight essential information such as economic trends, priority sectors, trade opportunities, regulatory environments, and links to Dutch–East African cooperation. 


By presenting the most relevant insights in a compact format, the reports help businesses quickly understand each country’s landscape and make informed decisions.


These snapshots are particularly valuable for companies exploring new markets, investors assessing potential entry points, and organizations seeking to strengthen partnerships across the region. They offer a reliable starting point for deeper research and strategic planning.


kenya: The Netherlands and Kenya share a strong trade relationship. In 2023 Kenya exported US$706 million to the Netherlands, growing at ~4.84 % per annum since ~2018. Conversely, the Netherlands exported about US$568.96 million to Kenya in 2024. For 2024 the Netherlands’ imports from Kenya were ~US$695.54 million. 


Uganda: In 2024, the Netherlands imported goods worth US$192.8 million from Uganda. Top imported products included cocoa/cocoa preparations (~US$78.95 m), live plants/cut flowers (~US$55.65 m), and coffee/tea/spices (~US$40.66 m) 


Tanzania: In 2024, the Netherlands imported goods valued at US$158.04 million from Tanzania. While detailed product breakdowns for the Dutch import side are more limited, Tanzania remains a potential partner in East African–Netherlands trade.


Ethiopia: In 2024, the Netherlands imported goods from Ethiopia to the value of US$214.32 million. Trading EconomicsWhile smaller in scale than some East African peers, the Ethiopia–Netherlands trade link is of interest.
